“East-end Baby-boomer: still writing, still revolting.”

Christine lives in Enfield, North London, where she teaches literature and creative writing. She’s a member of Palmers Green Poetry, Enfield Poets and Second Light and enjoys performing her work in venues as diverse as a church crypt and the back room of a pub. Her work is on YouTube and SoundCloud.

Her writing voice has a distinctive urban earthiness, sometimes wryly funny, sometimes chillingly bleak, engaging and challenging her audiences with topics that range from pie and mash to Persian poetry ,from  the defiance of the 17th C Witch of Edmonton to why the English prefer not to make love on the beach.

Writing highlights to date include: the prize for the best contribution to her school magazine: a Creative Writing MA at UEA; being one of six short-listed poems  out of 8,000 entries in a competition judged by Andrew Motion and taking part in the Poem-A-thon raising over £14.000 for MSF.

Her work has been published widely  – most recently by South Bank Poetry, Artemis, Three Drops  Press  and “The Book of Love and Loss” – and been a prize-winner/ short-listed in various poetry competitions, most recently in Mslexia, Barnet Open , Carefree Kids charity and “Writing Magazine”. Her debut pamphlet Dancing in Blue Flip-flops was published in autumn 2018.
