ALEXANDER, M.Anne

M. Anne Alexander’s poetry generally explores restorative themes, relating to landscapes with personal, historical and contemporary significance. Her background is as a lecturer in English and teacher of Music. She began writing poetry as an outcome of counselling and flourished as an active member of the award-winning Enfield Poets and Stanza Groups. Her poems are included in their Platform Poems, Postcard Poems, Industry Poems, Poem of the Month April 2022, Echoes App and Ekphrastic Poetry and are soon to be posted at Forty Hall.

M. Anne Alexander’s latest publication is “Waterways” (Literary Waves Publishing) 2024. Her poetry is also published in Crouch End Calling, just published by Literary Waves Publishing, London Grip, the Bury Free Press,  Poetry Space,  Dreich,  Prosopisia, Amethyst Review, Atmos, Dust, Poetry Breakfast, two anthologies and her pamphlet, Wildflowers (Poetry Space, 2021). 

In January 2023, her poem, Ordinary People, won the North Hertfordshire Holocaust Memorial competition.

She is also author of Thomas Hardy: the “dream-country” of his fiction – a study of the creative process (Vision Press/Barnes & Noble). A short story, Flight, was published by ShabdAaweg in January 2022, The Tea Party, by Amethyst in April 2022 and, in July 2022, her story, The Committal, won 2nd prize in a literary contest for Abbey 1000. In 2023, a Scottish collection, Walking the Wall was longlisted for the Aramyati Prize.
